School starts

School started mid-August for us and it involved a whole week of newness. Madde started Monday with most of the district.  She had helped me pick out this dress.  It came with a matching doll dress and she was very disappointed when I wouldn't let her take Snowball (stuffed kitten) to school to show it off.  She didn't know her teacher, but knew several kids in her class including 2 of her best friends.  Her teacher ended up getting moved to a different grade and Madde's class dispersed to other teachers.  She still got to keep one of her friends in her class, and I think got transferred to a better teacher, so overall we are pretty happy.
Hunter started Wednesday with the rest of the kindergarteners.  He had gone in for his evaluation and wouldn't even talk to the teachers, so I was fairly nervous that he would have a very rough start to school.  Hallelujah he got Madde's kindergarten teacher.  Not only has he met her before, but from listening to Madde talk, he's pretty sure he already knows her.  He was nervous the first day, but once he realized that the teacher would tell him exactly what he needed to do, he calmed down. He walked into the classroom without a backwards glance. I actually drove him to school the first day, so this is from the second day (his first riding the bus).
Dayton started school on Friday.  I was so nervous, but all of his teachers came out to our house and met us and got some information on Dayton.  They are great and I felt much better after talking to them.  The school had a parent orientation the first day, so I drove Dayton.  He was excited to get to his classroom and giggled at everyone.  There are 3 other special needs kids in his class and 3 adults, so overall, they get lots of attention.  He has done great at school and seems to enjoy the interaction.  He struggles to sleep there, so he comes home pretty tired, but seems to really enjoy school.  Surprisingly he seems to really like to bus ride too.  He sits right over the back wheel and loves the bouncing all the way to school.
